Tatev Aslanyan

Yerevan, Armenia

Tatev Aslanyan was born in Artsakh and currently resides in Yerevan. Her artistic practice is primarily based on traditional painting techniques, often incorporating mixed media and combining various materials on a single surface. The central themes of her work address social structures, animal instincts, the subconscious layers of the human psyche, nature, and the realm of sleep.

In her paintings, Tatev frequently employs the figure of the dog, which functions as a metaphor for the human condition. Through this image, she explores expressions of intolerance, aggression, as well as moments of innocence and affection. The dog becomes a symbolic mediator between instinct and consciousness, reflecting complex emotional and psychological states.

She believes that one of the essential values of art lies in its ability to transmit life energy. For her, the primary function of a work of art is to evoke a sense of vitality in the viewer and to remind them of the intensity and presence of life itself.
