Aksel Zardaryan

Aksel Zardaryan

Yerevan, Armenia / France

Aksel Zardaryan (b. 1998) is an Armenian-French visual artist and scenographer whose practice spans painting, drawing, writing, and spatial experimentation. Educated in scenography at ESTAT (École Supérieure des Arts et Techniques) in France, he graduated in 2021 and subsequently returned to Armenia, where he contributed to theatrical productions and developed his studio practice.

Deeply influenced by Armenian-Soviet painter Hovhannes Zardaryan, Aksel's work explores memory, artistic lineage, and comparative visual narratives. In 2023, he presented his first solo work at the Grand Palais Éphémère in Paris as part of Comparaisons, marking an important milestone in his painting practice. His recent works form an ongoing series initiated in Yerevan in 2022, reflecting a dialogue between personal history, place, and contemporary expression.
